セイバーメトリクスはＭＬＢで始まりました。
１９７０年代からありましたが、資金難に悩む弱小球団が、安価に良い選手を集めるために採用し、またたくまに効果を挙げました。
そのことで、一気に注目を浴びます。
特徴的なのは、バントの否定、打率より出塁率。ここからＯＰＳという数値（出塁率＋蝶打率）が生まれています。
後半は段々とマニアックになっていきますが、野球を見るうえで、ひとつの新しい視点になることは間違いありません。
