第24回小説でもどうぞに応募した作品その１です。
テーマは「偶然」です。

『ショートショート部』 齊藤 想
本日はショートショート部の定例会だ。
顧問を目の前にして、部長が高らかに開会を宣言する。
「いまから、偉大なる星沢文学部教授直伝のショートショート特訓を行う。これは偶然を利用した組み合わせ法の一種で、本を開き、最初に目に入った名詞をテーマにして即興でショートショートを作るものである。
しかし、テーマとして決めた名詞を使ってはいけない。それがこの訓練法のミソであり、難しいところである。では、田中君。始めるように」
はい、と一年生が本を開く。
「車です」
うむ、と部長が答える。テーマが決まったら、五秒以内に始めなくてはならない。五秒を示すベルが鳴る。
一年生が、緊張した面持ちで口を開く。
「彼はバイトでお金を貯めると、それを中古で購入しました。それの助手席に彼女を乗せてドライブにでかけ……」
「いかーん」
部長はハリセンで机を何度も叩いた。
「車を”それ”に置き換えているだけではないか。文学界の重鎮である星沢教授の面前で恥ずかしくはないのか」
うなだれる一年生を前にして、副部長が合いの手を入れる。
「ここはバシッと、部長が手本を見せてくださいよ」
副部長の言葉に、部長は「うむ」とうなずくと、無造作に本を開いた。
「テーマは道化だ」
五秒を待たずに、部長が語り始める。
「そのピエロは玉乗りが上手だった。ピエロのドウケは……」
「ちょっと待ってください」
一年生の田中が手を上げる。
「道化とピエロは同じではありませんか。おまけにピエロの名前がドウケだなんて」
「道化だけに、ドウケしたのか？」
「ここはダジャレ部ではありません」
「これから面白くなるところだったのに、無念じゃ。次は副部長。やってみろ」
「任せてください」
副部長が余裕の表情で手元にある本を開いた。しかし、急に顔色が変わると、部員たちをにらみつけた。
「誰ですか。僕の愛読書『かいけつゾロリ』の中身を『平家物語』にすり替えたのは」
「ガハハハ」と部長が高笑いをする。
「お前がおならネタばかり作るから、刺激を与えてやったのだ。何しろ今日は星沢教授がご臨席する名誉ある日だからな。ごたくはいいから、早くテーマを発表せい」
部長の催促に、副部長は仕方なく答える。
「諸行無常です」
「よし、五秒だ。５、４、３……始めろ」
副部長が、冷汗を流しながら口を開く。
「ギオンとショージャは金がない。ショギョウは夢精の嘆きあり」
「なんだ、それは」
「思い付きにもほどがあります」
副部長は苦しそうに答える。
「こ、これはショートショート部秘伝の連句ショートショートである。次は田中、テーマは車で続けろ」
「なんですか突然。命令とあれば、続けますが。三人は金を稼ぐために、キッチンカーを始めました。レモネードを売るのです。次は部長、お願いします」
「うむ、テーマは道化だな。３人のレモネードは全く売れない。ドウケしたのかな？」
「そのダジャレは先ほど使いました」
「最近の一年生は厳しいのう。こうなったら、最後のオチは顧問にお願いするしかなかろう。星沢教授、お願いします」
星沢教授はため息をついた。
「なぜなら三人は体調が悪い上に、場所が南米だったからだ。ひとえに、風邪の前のチリに同じ」
三人が一斉に拍手をした。
「さすがは教授」
「本当に教授のオチは最高ですよ！」
「うぬ。亀の甲より年の功。きっちりと平家物語で締めるとことは、さすがは文学界に名前が轟く星沢教授である」
「お前たち、いい加減にしろ！」
教授は部員たちを一喝した。
「この程度のよいしょで単位をくれと言われても、絶対にやらんぞ。部長は四年生だが、卒業論文はどうなったのか」
三人は相談を始めた。
「そういえば、教授の娘は高校生で、たいそうな美人と聞きました。こんど、学園祭の舞台で主役を務めるとか」
教授も娘には弱い。教授のほほが緩む。その様子を見た部長がほくそ笑む。
日本を代表する大企業には、ヨイショ部の部員が多数紛れ込んでいるという。
