ジェイソンステインサムが至高の運び屋フランクを演じる人気シリーズの第３弾。
今回の本敵は、ウクライナに有毒廃棄物を持ち込むことで大儲けを企むエコ・コープ社の手下です。
有毒廃棄物を持ち込むには環境大臣の署名が必要ですが、その署名を得るために大臣の娘を拉致します。
その娘を拉致した実行犯が、ジョンソンです。
ジョンソンはフランクを脅すことで、娘付きで荷物を運ぶよう依頼します。
実はその荷物には意味がなく、本当は環境大臣が署名するまで娘を移動させ続けるのが目的です。
フランクも状況が分かりませんでしたが、じきに真相を把握します。
しかし、反撃しようにも、ジョンソンと娘には、車から離れると爆発するブレスレットを付けさせられています。
いうことを聞くしかないフランクは、娘をジョンソンが指定する場所に運びます。そこは、逃げ場のないダムの上の一本道でした。
危機一髪で脱出したフランクは、娘を奪還するために反撃へと転じる。
という感じのストーリーです。
アクション映画らしい構成だと思います。
最初はジョンソンがフランクを圧倒して、強制的に命令を聞かせます。敵の強大さを明示して、冒険が始まります。
途中で腕輪を外そうとしますが、ジョンソンが一枚上手で外せません。
目的地に達して車を奪われかけますが、ここではフランクが車を奪還します。
娘を奪還しようとする環境大臣の手下とのカーチェイスを挟み、ダムの上という逃げ場のない道で主人公を追い詰めます。
ここでもジョンソンの勝ちですが、機智で脱出してからが反撃のタームです。
負け→負け→勝ち、という黄金パターンです。
こうした戦いの間に娘との交流を深めていきます。
すべてを諦めていた娘も、人生に希望を持つようになります。こうした成長、変化も語られていきます。
冒頭で旧知のタルコニ警部との釣りのシーンがあります。
映画の途中でフランクと娘との会話で魚料理の話がポイントで挟まれ、ラストシーンも釣りで終わります。
しかし、最初のシーンとは異なり、ここで主人公たちの成長、変化を表現します。
つまり魚が物語を繋げる糸の役割を果たしています。
具体的には状況に応じてルールを柔軟に運用するようになり、単独行動を基本とした主人公の傍に娘がいることです。
よく考えられたラストシーンだと思います。
製作費4000万ドルに対して興行収入は前作を上回る1憶1000万ドルです。
シリーズの中で一番のデキではないかと思います。２の敵も魅力的でしたが。
