収録されているのは５編ですが、いずれも短編の楽しさを堪能できる良作ばかりです。
芦沢央『許されようとは、思いません』は、田舎に嫁に来た祖母の話です。苦しみと悲しみの上に祖父を殺害してしまうのですが、裁判のときに発した「許されようとは、思いません」の意味が最後に逆転して明かされます。自分はこの短編で芹沢央を知り、彼女の作品を貪るようにして読むようになりました。
下村敦史の『死は朝、羽ばたく』もショートショートテイストのある絶品で、最後に設定そのものがひっくりかえります。
いずれも登場する作家の本を読んでみたいと思える短編ばかりで、堪能しました。
